After several years in this 110sqm apartment -typical of Shanghai high-rise residential- the client and their family felt like they had begun to outgrow the space. Instead of moving away from their home and community though they approached Studio Mù and together we developed a strategy to update their living conditions.
The solution centers around introducing a sequence of custom furniture precisely arranged on plan to organise the space as cleanly and unobtrusively as possible. AC units and efficient roll-out storage are concealed within to help elimate the sense of clutter that previously burdened the client whilst tactile materials and precise detailing hope to instill the kind of pleasant, calming atmosphere the family felt their home was missing.
